Using the Discount Transport Pass for the Elderly (Senior Pass)

Eligibility
・It will be issued to those over 70 years old who have an address in Osaka City.
・Please check the issuance procedure from here (Osaka City website).

How to use

・ If you charge (deposit) cash on the Senior Pass (IC card), you can use the eligible trains and buses for 50 yen per ride.

・The Subway and Newtram operated by Osaka Metro

・Buses operated by Osaka City Bus (*)

・Imazato liner

*Excludes IKEA Tsuruhama buses, Universal Studios Japan ™ buses, airport limousine buses, and on-demand buses.

  • Before you get started
  • Please charge the fare at the ticket vending machine or payment machine at the subway station or at the fare box on the bus.
    * In addition, you can also use IC card compatible ticket vending machines at private railways and JR stations.

Charging is to deposit money into the Keiro Pass.
For example, if you charge 1,000 yen to your card, you can use that card for 1,000 yen (20 rides on the subway, New Tram, and bus).

  • The remaining amount charged to the Keiro Pass can be used on subways, New Trams, buses, and private railways and JR trains in the Kansai region. (When using private railways, JR, etc. in the Kansai region, the prescribed fare will be reduced from the remaining charge.)
  • Charges can be made in increments of 1,000 yen, up to a maximum of 20,000 yen remaining on the card, but please note that once the amount is charged, it cannot be refunded unless you cancel the card.

* It is also possible to charge less than 1,000 yen (in units of 10 yen from 10 yen to 990 yen) at the payment machine.

  • How to use
  • Subway and New Tram
Touch the card to the reader on the automatic ticket gate in the subway station.
 Regardless of the distance you travel, 50 yen for each ride will be subtracted from your pass balance when you exit.

  • Using when riding over segments spanning interconnecting lines of other companies (Kita-Osaka Kyuko Line, Hankyu Line, Kintetsu Line) and subway and New Tram.
    Touch the card to the reader on the automatic ticket gate in the station.
     The total fare that includes 50 yen for the subway and New Tram segment and the specified fare for other company line segments is subtracted from the balance on your pass when exiting.

  • Bus Note: Excluding buses for Universal Studios Japan™ and IKEA.

    When exiting, touch your pass on the farebox on the bus.
     For each ride, 50 yen will be subtracted from your pass balance.
  • Using the pass on the subway and bus

When the pass balance is insufficient during use
  • Subway and New Tram
    [Insufficient balance at entry] Load money onto the pass at a ticket vending machine and use the automatic ticket gate.
    [Insufficient balance at exit] Load money onto the pass at a fare adjustment machine and use the automatic ticket gate.

  • Other railway company lines that are interoperable (Kita-Osaka Kyuko Line, Hankyu Line, Kintetsu Line)
    [Insufficient balance at entry] Load money onto the pass at a ticket vending machine and use the automatic ticket gate.
    [Insufficient balance at exit] Load money onto the pass at a fare adjustment machine and use the automatic ticket gate.

  • Bus
    You can load money onto your pass there and touch your pass on the farebox when exiting the bus or touch your pass on the farebox and pay the remainder in cash when exiting.
    (Transferring is also possible.)

Senior Pass cannot be used together with a commuter pass, coupon tickets, or other cards/tickets.

Senior Pass can also be used when transferring from bus to bus (within 90 minutes) or between bus and subway.

○ Discounts will not be applied if another form of public transport is used between transfers (this includes the subway in the case of a bus to bus transfer).
Discounts are limited to instances of consecutive use.
Example: Discounts are not applied in transfer scenarios such as the following: bus⇒other rail⇒subway
○ The transfer discount will be applied based on the boarding sequence.

○ When transferring from bus to bus, the discount will be applied if you get off the second bus within 90 minutes of getting off the first one.

Other points to note

  • Senior Pass cannot be used to get off at stations west of Hanakuma Sta. on the Kobe Rapid Transit Railway Lines (including Sanyo Electric Railway Line and Kobe Electric Railway Line) going from Osaka Metro Tenjimbashisuji 6-chome Sta. via the Hankyu Line.
