Purchasing a student commuter pass


Important notes for purchasing a student commuter pass. Please be sure to check in advance.

1. For new students, first-time purchasers of a student commuter pass, or those making changes to their commuter pass section, etc.
Items to prepare
1) “Proof of Enrollment (for submission)”
or
2) “Proof of Enrollment (for presentation)”
*The Proof of Enrollment must be completed by a representative of your school, stamped with the official school seal, and valid at the time of purchasing the commuter pass.

2. For current students (purchasing a new commuter pass for the same section due to advancement to the next grade)

Items to prepare
1) “Proof of Enrollment (for submission)”
or
2) “Proof of Enrollment (for presentation)”
or
3) “Student ID” + The old student commuter pass you previously purchased
(Valid only if it is currently in use or within two months after the expiration date)

*The Proof of Enrollment must be completed by a representative of your school, stamped with the official school seal, and valid at the time of purchasing the commuter pass.
*The student ID must indicate a valid expiration date.

3) “Student ID” + The old student commuter pass you previously purchased

*The old student commuter pass you previously purchased (Valid only if it is currently in use or within two months after the expiration date)
*If there are changes to the commuter pass section or if you cannot present the previous commuter pass, the same documents required for purchasing a new commuter pass will be required.


3. Current students (Purchasing a renewed commuter pass)
Current students who already have a student commuter pass can renew it using an automated commuter pass vending machine [pink ticket machine] .
Pink ticket machines cannot issue commuter passes that expire after April 30 of the next academic year.
*Proof of Enrollment is not required.
*An eligible old student commuter pass must be either currently in use or within two months of its expiration date.
*Each certificate must be valid at the time of purchase.

Notes
1) The commuting section refers to the section between the nearest station to your school and the nearest station to your home.
2) A student commuter pass cannot be purchased for attending club activities, cram schools, or other extracurricular activities.
3) If the required documents are incomplete or contain errors, we may refuse your pass purchase. For more details, please check with your school.
4) When making a reservation through the Commuter Pass/PiTaPa Web Reservation Service, please ensure that all required documents are completed correctly and upload both the front and back sides.
5) Student commuter passes that extend across academic years cannot be renewed using automated commuter pass vending machines [pink ticket machines] at stations.
6) Student commuter passes held by graduating students will become invalid and cannot be used after the expiration of the student ID validity period.
7) Even if your school does not change (e.g., in the case of integrated elementary and junior high schools or junior and senior high schools), a new Proof of Enrollment is required when advancing to the next grade.
